Representation

Representations

Representations are the way in which people, events and ideas are presented to the audience.
The media can take something and re-present it to the audience in the way that they choose.

Archetypes = The ultimate stereotype
Counter-type = The complete opposite to the archetypes; they are not instantly thought of

Representations are created by the producers of media texts.
Producers = Anyone who makes a media text or clip

What the media chooses to represent to us is controlled Gatekeepers
Gatekeepers = Anyone who is involved in a media production with the power to make a decision about something the audience is allowed to read, hear or see and not see. E.g. A newspaper editor

Moguls = They are the kind of person who owns the company. E.g. Newspapers, TV stations and Film companies; Rupert Murdoch owns Fox, The Sun, The Times etc.

Media consumers = They are the audience
